Kris was a fervent leader in Pax Christi's social justice ministry. She stood for kindness, understanding, solidarity, and peace. We honor her memory in this event designed to provide an opportunity for diverse members of Eden Prairie to come together to share across differences. Reservations are required for this event so that we can prepare to welcome all who gather! We recommend this event for people between the ages of 10 and 100!

A CONVERSATION ABOUT COMPASSION

Saturday, September 21, 9:00am–12:30pm, St. Frances Cabrini, MplsHow can we encounter the Compassionate God of the Bible? The Bible reveals both a compassionate God and Jesus as the compassion of God. We will explore the biblical roots of compassion in Hebrew Scriptures and the Gospels. First we will explore the importance and meaning of the Hebrew and Greek verbs for compassion, with examples of how God acts compassionately. Then we will explore how Jesus is the compassion of God. We will be challenged as faithful followers of Jesus, to act compassionately towards everyone we encounter.
TWELVE BASKETS BOOK DRIVE
Through THIS Weekend - September 21/22Twelve Baskets is sponsoring a book drive for Blessed Trinity to help them replenish their school library. Blessed Trinity Catholic School is a Pre-K to grade eight school in Richfield. It is supported by the parishes of St. Richard’s, Assumption, and St. Peter’s. Book titles from their wish list will be on display at doors 1 and 3. Parishioners have the option to purchase a book for the library or make a cash donation.
MOMS ROCK: RAISING OUR CHRISTIAN KIDS
Beginning Wednesday, September 25, 9:30–11:30am, Room 212Moms ROCK welcomes all parents, parents-to-be, and anyone else interested in joining us. These 16 gatherings include brunch and relaxing social time, followed by uninterrupted time to focus on the day’s guest speaker. Whether you can come to one or all of the gatherings, you are certain to leave with a feeling that you are part of something wonderful! The cost to attend each speaker is $10 per meeting, which includes childcare for those that have preregistered.

JUST ENGAGEMENT: THE POWER TO CHANGE
Thursdays beginning September 26, 6:00–8:30pmHow do I put into action the need for social change in my community? Through the lens of the Christian faith, Just Engagement is an eight-week program that invites you to look at different ways to engage in grassroots advocacy efforts. In small groups you will discern how your gifts, skills, and passions are best utilized to create social change. This program includes grounding in scripture, reflection on past and present social movements, wisdom from community advocates, tools for successful advocacy, and resources to support you and your group for the long haul as you actively impact social change. GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP
Seven Mondays starting September 30 through November 11, 5:30–7:30pmThe Southwest Grief Coalition is a partnership of area churches working together to provide support and education for those who are grieving. The fall series will be hosted at Family of Christ Lutheran Church in Chanhassen. The evening will include a light meal, followed by speaker, and then small group supportive sessions specific to your type of loss. If you or someone you know has suffered the loss of a loved one, you are invited to participate. There is no cost to attend and you do not need to attend all sessions. Experience the opportunity to learn and engage in Christian contemplative practices and participate in a community whose members are growing in their presence to one another. BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS
Saturday, October 5, 9:00amCalling all llamas, lizards, guinea pigs, cockatoos, and of course dogs and cats! It is once again time for the annual Blessing of the Animals to celebrate St. Francis Day at Pax Christi. Bring your favorite furry, feathered, or scaled friend on a leash or in a carrier to the St. Francis Shrine (or Nazareth Hall if we experience inclement weather). We will have a short prayer service, bless each pet individually, and provide a photo opportunity with Deacon Al Schroeder. Feel free to enjoy a walk around the pond and treat yourself to some coffee and pastries.
