Moving Beyond the Conceivable
Jesus said to the crowds: "To what shall I compare the people of this generation? What are they like? They are like children who sit in the marketplace and call to one another, 'We played the flute for you, but you did not dance. We sang a dirge, but you did not weep.' (Luke 7:31-32)
Jesus laments that many people of his time who, blinded by their own preconceived ideas and expectations regarding the Messiah. They rejected Him as the Son of God who came to save not just them but all. As we know that most of our daily conflicts and crises come from the way we conceive things. God’s ways are not our ways. So how do you see God? God is more visible than you might think. He reveals to us in creations, in the “rain!” in His Words and Sacraments. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1) The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life. (John 6:63) He is in you and me. Because we are Made In God’s Image! (M.I.G.I), we belong to Him, we can reflect Him, we can think like Him, and we can love the way He loves-selflessly and unconditionally. Jesus said: “I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another.” (John 13:34) In this personal relationship with God, we are able to offer ourselves to Him and become an instrument of His love and mercy. Therefore, Jesus invites us to let go of any false preconceived ideas or expectations we may have about God or others so that we can live in truth, justice, peace, and joy.
Do you reflect God?
What can I do today to reflection Christ in your surroundings?
Lord, help me to see You in the lives of those closest to me. Help me to rejoice in Your presence and to grow in love of other and in love of You as I see You at work in their lives. Jesus, I trust in You.
Hail Mary full of grace…
Peace in Christ,
