Hello, Everyone!
It was another good week at preschool!
Learning activities & stories centered around family.
Who are the people in your family? How many people are in your family?
A short rhyme about family helped get the thinking process going.
Each child picked out clothing to represent a family member & assembled a portrait!
Right now everyone is in the process to add head, legs & arms to these. A few finished pictures are dangling on our art wall. Take a look!
Please remember: Color coordination was not the most important thing for this project!
Mrs. Mac. read a book of a well known family : The Three Bears & Goldi Locks!
She had the group's attention as the story unfolded; several remarks & predictions were made.
The next day I asked the class if they remembered the story they had heard the day before! What was it about? Who were the characters in the story? Could they tell the story to Mrs. A & I if they just saw pictures?
Well - they did! - My goal was to act out the story as well. But the wiggles set in & prevented that from happening. Perhaps another time!
We managed another first!
On Wednesday morning our 3 year olds joined the rest of St.James' students in Tobin Hall for morning prayers! It was fun to see their reaction as class after class came in & lined up for prayer. They really did well standing & sitting quietly, listening & singing along with "the crowd".
Thursday morning held a fun surprise! Father Bernie shared that it was the day to pour cement for a building project behind his house It would happen during prayer time...were we interested in watching this? Of Course we were!
4th grade Reading buddies accompanied us as our little group walked to Fr. Bernie's house, lined up by the fence and watched cement trucks pull into the lot. Children saw cement go into a different truck ...and wow! The cement poured out of a giant hose!
"Hey! Those guys are walking around in the cement with boots!"
"What if they get stuck in the cement?"
"Wow ! That's a lot of cement!"
Everyone (well, almost everyone ) looked on as cement was troweled smooth.
Thanks , Fr. Bernie, for making us aware of this learning opportunity!
Thank you very much for all the book orders! The order was placed Tuesday. &Books should be here in 7 - 10 buisnes days!
Please, please, check your child's back pack for mail! Reminders were sent home a while ago about forms missing to complete your child's registration! You may want to check with the office to make sure your child's file has all the necessary forms!
Thank you!
Thank you for all the delicious snacks !
Coming up: Our Fall Walk on Monday, September 23!
The plan is to begin our adventure at 10 o'clock.
Meghan & Brandon Hamilton will come along! Thank you. It's not too late to join us!
Weather permitting we will take a look/walk around our school premises to look for & find signs of Fall.
After our walk we'll investigate our finds & spend what time is left before dismissal on the playground. - Please, make sure your child is wearing comfortable shoes for walking.
If it should happen to rain on Monday, we'll go on the walk on Tuesday. Thanks for being flexible!
Mrs. A & I are looking forward to more fun in learning with your child!
