Could it be that Fall is finally here? It is October, after all. October is an important month in the Church calendar (in truth, they all are). It is one of the months dedicated to the Blessed Mother (our Patroness), and it is also the month dedicated to the Rosary. Many Saints have spoken to us about the Rosary; so has the Blessed Mother. If the Blessed Mother, Herself, has asked us to pray the Rosary, how can we go wrong in doing it? This month, try to pray the Rosary every day. Pray it with your family. Pray it especially with your children. It is more powerful than you can imagine. It will bring you peace in troubled times. It always has. On to what's new.
IRVINGTON HOMECOMING WEEKEND
Good luck to all our Cross Country, Volleyball, Field Hockey, Soccer, Tennis, Swim, and Football Team members, as well as our Band and Flag Team, Chorus, Booster Club, and parents, taking part in this weekend's festivities. We will be cheering you on!
GO BIG GREEN!!!
THE REP... AT IT AGAIN
Tonight at 6PM the ICC REP will hold its first ever Charity Movie Night. In keeping with the 2019-2020 theme of Fishers of Men, the featured film will be "Finding Dory". But wait... there's more. Just before the movie, the kids will hear a few words about the work of Riverkeeper. The $5/family donation will go to their great work. This is a REP only event. That's 6PM in the gym!
If that wasn't enough, our 5th Grade Team is holding a Halloween Costume Drive. If you have gently used, child appropriate and friendly costumes just lying around the house... bring them in to the Church vestibule, or the School vestibule during class on Wednesdays. They will find a good home thanks to the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary. Reduce, Reuse, and Really make a kid happy! The last drop off day is Oct. 16.
BLESSINGS & MORE BLESSINGS
Do you know what day today is? It is the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi. In his memory, we will once be having our Blessing of the Animals tomorrow, Saturday, October 5 at 10AM. All you need to do is show up with your favorite dog, cat, hamster, bird, fish, snake (blech), etc. We will take care of the rest!
Next weekend we will hold our bi-annual Anointing Mass for those of our parishioners, friends and family who are suffering the effects of age or illness of any kind. The Mass will take place next Saturday, October 12, at 10AM.
And just one day later, ICC will celebrate itsbi-annual Mass for Expectant Families. All babies, from pre-natal to 1 year old are happily welcomed here! That is Sunday, October 13 at 10AM.
CONCERT FOR HOPE AT TRANSFIGURATION
Eric Genuis, composer, pianist, and speaker, will be coming to TransfigurationParish on Wednesday, October 30. Joining him will be a world class violinist, cellist and vocalist. The evening will start with Hors d’ouevres, beer and wine at 6:15PM, with the concert starting at 7PM. This is a free-will donation event to raise money and awareness for Concerts for Hope, which provides free concerts for the forgotten and marginalized members of our society - e.g those in prison, rehab centers, veterans’ and nursing homes, hospitals, and inner city schools.
That is all for today. Don't forget that in order to more fully support our parish, it is important to register as a parishioner... but first and foremost... come to Mass!
See you on Sunday.
Sincerely Yours in Christ,
Fr. Ashman
