From the desk of Fr. Dave Voors...
As winter approaches, it was suggested that we move the 4:30 pm Saturday evening Mass to 4:00 pm.
The primary purpose is the safety of all....as with daylight savings time taking place on November 3, it would still be daylight when a 4:00 pm Mass was over.
This would especially help the elderly and all who are visually impaired. It would also aid all when driving home on days when there is ice or snow. In addition it would simplify the question "what time is Mass?" as both Saturday and Sunday would be at 4:00 pm.
Please help us by giving your opinion in a 30 second survey you will find at the bottom of this e-mail.
The change (if any) would take place on Saturday evening, November 9.
Reasons for the possible change:- Help elderly see, walk and drive safer in daylight
- Elderly arriving home in light vs darkness (see sidewalks, looking for keys, fear in dark, etc)
- Safer for all to recognize icy or snow slippery spots in daylight
- No confusion over Mass times on Saturday and Sunday evening - both would be at 4:00 pm
- More time in the evening after Mass for Family supper, or other evening events
- Able to wave and say "Hi, God bless" to people after Mass because you can see them!
Additional Notes:
Confession times on Saturday would be moved to 3:15 pm until 3:45 (right before Mass)
2:00 pm weddings should not be effected as they are to be done with pictures in Church already by 3:30 pm
Survey Notes:
- When you click the survey bubble, it will redirect you to another page, but your vote will already be counted.
- Even if you complete the survey more than once it will still only count your vote once, since your response is connected to your Flocknote account (your e-mail/phone number)
Please have survey completed by October 11.
