Dear Parish Family Member,
I really don’t want to be sending this letter at a time like this. Our whole community is suffering from the effects of Tropical Storm Imelda and we are dealing with our third substantial flood in our area since 2017. But the whole parish needs your help. Looking to the future, St. Martha’s built the parish’s new church a decade ago. Our beautiful church provides much more room for our expanding parish family, enhances our worship experience and positions St. Martha’s for continued growth in members and ministries.
We have diligently paid down the debt for the church, offices and rectory with your generous donations to our previous capital campaign. But those contributions will not completely retire our remaining construction debt balance of $7.8 million.
After careful study, St. Martha’s leaders have determined that retiring the debt is essential to the parish’s successful future. As a result, the parish will embark on a capital campaign that will serve two purposes:
- Significantly reduce or eliminate the construction debt.
- Enable St. Martha’s to fulfill its $2.3 million commitment to the archdiocesan IGNITE: Our Faith, Our Mission Capital Campaign.
But before we move ahead, we want to hear from you. We have retained the services of the Steier Group, a Catholic development consulting firm, to conduct a comprehensive planning study. This study will allow us to gather everyone’s thoughts regarding our plans. It also will help us properly prepare for a capital campaign to accomplish these goals.
As we prepare for a campaign, the planning study will help us set an appropriate fundraising goal and identify campaign leaders and potential major donors.
Attached is the master plan
fact sheet. Once you have read about our plans, please share your thoughts by completing the survey online. Enter password: Kingwood. Please complete the survey no later than October 28.
Our parish thrives because of the commitment and support of people like you. I am hopeful that you will agree to share your time and thoughts with us. Your participation is crucial as we plan for the continued success of St. Martha’s. I hope you get a chance to watch the attached video because we had a great time filming it!
God Bless all of you,
Fr. TJ Dolce
