October is Respect Life Month and the 40 Days for Life campaigns are in full swing with prayer and peaceful witness at the Planned Parenthood clinics in San Rafael, in San Francisco and in Redwood City. Find a location at

For students, teachers and parents: the Archdiocesan Respect Life Essay Contest deadline of Oct. 31 is fast approaching. We encourage students Grades 1-12 to submit an entry. There are cash prizes!

October is Respect Life Month.
The U.S. Supreme Court will consider the case of immigrants brought here before age 16, known as DACA or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. Their status was temporarily legalized in an executive order by President Barak Obama and revoked by President Donald Trump. DACA is on hold after a lower federal court blocked Trump's order. Despite strong support by the U.S. bishops for a path to citizenship for DACA immigrants--the U.S. Congress failed to pass legislation to create a path to citizenship for the approximately 700,000 young people.
