Dear Parents,
Thank you very much for your participation in our parent session this past Sunday! For those who were not able to attend, please know that the make-up session for parent will be tomorrow, Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 7:00pm in the Social Hall.
You can pick up your at-home packets to review with your children at that time.
For the week ahead, you are asked to review chapter 2 with your child at home and to complete the online assessment found at the links below:

http://isr.loyolapress.com/fg_g8_s2 When you finish the online review, the ultimate goal is to send the results of the review to
re@standrew.org. I find it best if you put your own email into the online form first and then forward the reply email from Loyola Press to us at
re@standrew.org. That way, you’ll know that the results got to me!
Our next mandatory meeting will not be until
Sunday, November 3, 2019. We will have classes for K-2 only on
Sunday, October 20, 2019 and we will have an elective prayer service on
Sunday, October 27 at 9:00am in which we pray the rosary together. All families are invited to join us.
Finally, I want to address a concern that our PMA Megan Daigle brought to my attention. She felt that humor was used in her presentation this past Sunday to inappropriately diffuse the seriousness of a situation. I applaud her assessment of the situation and her strong desire to correct any misunderstandings. She has written an explanation if you wish to read it that can be found by
clicking here.
Megan’s observation brings up a concern which I would like to address further and it is the notion of parenting as an exercise in peace building. Without having my own children, I can see from afar that parenting is not an easy task and the pitfalls are many. As an additional elective experience, we will have a meeting (yet to be scheduled) in which we can discuss positive parenting techniques and how they help shape our understanding of God and God’s hope for us to be peacemakers in and outside of our families.
If you wish to discuss this with me, I remain available to you by phone (773-525-3016) or in person.
Thank you for your care and concern for your children and for being a part of Saint Andrew Parish. Your presence and enthusiasm for our faith nurtures my faith in return.
God bless,
David Heimann
