Thy Kingdom Come!
Dear Regnum Christi members and friends,
I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful fall colors. With fall comes change, and one change is among our Legionary brothers.
Fr Kevin McKenzie LC, who has served us so many years here in the Ohio Valley, is moving on to another community.
We thank him for his presence and service as a priest here, lived with such love and kindness all these years. Please see his message below.
God bless!
Yvonne Nuxoll
RC director Ohio Valley
Dear Friends,
Happy feast of Saint Luke the Evangelist! We owe a lot to him, since he is the one who gave us the stories surrounding the Annunciation and Jesus’ birth, the parable of the prodigal son, and the story of Martha and Mary. As a writer, I count Saint Luke as one of my patrons.
It’s been more than six years since I first came to Cincinnati as a new deacon. Beginning my priesthood here, with all of you, has been a true joy. I’ve had the gift to live in a great community of Legionary priests, have wonderful sisters in the community of Consecrated Women, and in different ways be a member of each and every one of your families. I count myself blessed among priests!
Over the last year or so I’ve been feeling a tug from God. I felt and feel he’s asking me for a change. So it is that with the blessing of my superiors I am moving to our community in New York. I leave this Monday.
I wish I could have had a lot more time to visit with all of you to wish you farewell, but this note will have to do.
Thank you for your welcome, your encouragement, your support. Thank you for letting me serve you, and in so doing, for teaching me so very much. I will treasure the friendships, and memories, and lessons I’ve learned from you. I wish I could just stay but I know this is the step God is asking of me now in my priesthood.
I love being a priest! And I love being a Legionary priest, part of this great movement of Regnum Christi. It was 25 years ago that I joined the seminary as a twelve year old boy, and though it was hard to leave my family at that time, I felt it was where God was calling me. He blessed me then. And now that I feel him calling me to this new mission, it feels very much like when I left home so many years ago. But I know He’ll bless me and all of us now if we just try to do His will, and love Him with all our hearts and souls.
For the time being, other Legionaries will be filling in for me at school and in the community.
Please keep me in your prayers, and I will remember all of you, who mean so much to me, in mine.
Yours brother in Christ,
Father Kevin McKenzie LC
