We are excited to announce the ribbon cutting and blessing of the new Hyland Center. This new 52,000 square foot building replaces the original Hyland Center built in 1952. The opening marks a defining moment in the eighty-two year history of our Cathedral of Christ the King community.
The new building will serve both the Cathedral parish and the Christ the King School communities. Features of this new building are a regulation size gymnasium with a stage, assembly room, eight flexible classrooms, and two distinctive science labs, along with an expansive art room, acoustical music room, and broadcast studio. The building will support over one hundred ministries, as well as provide state of the art educational facility for the Christ the King School’s 560 students. Christ the King School is a three time National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence serving grades Kindergarten through 8th, founded in 1937 by the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart. Monsignor Francis G. McNamee, Rector of the Cathedral of Christ the King, and Mr. Peter Schultz, Principal of Christ the King School, are pictured cutting the ceremonial ribbon alongside the building committee, design and construction teams, and Christ the King School faculty, staff, and students.
We invite you to experience the Hyland Center at our Saints by Our Side event and to join us for the dedication Mass on the Feast of Christ the King.
