Hello, Everyone!
It was a great week to...
investigate pumpkins,
play in pumpkin slime,
roast pumpkin seeds...
We invited the children to close their eyes & sniff the pumpkin. What does it smell like?
What color is a pumpkin on the inside?
Each child had the opportunity to scoop some pumpkin slime. What does it look and feel like like?
Ryan took one look inside the pumpkin, stepped back shaking his head . "No! I don't want to touch that stuff. It smells like a tractor!" - He did later! ;-)
Some brave souls did play in the pumpkin goop. Seeds were washed, they dried over night.
On Wednesday Mr. Doug & I watched, as children took turns stirring a bit of salt onto seeds....while singing "Stirring my brew".
Into the oven they went to roast. Children tasted them the next day during snack time..."I don't really like them." - "They taste funny!" - "Too crunchy!" , were some of the comments heard. - Our 4th Grade Reading Buddies very much enjoyed munching on them!
Of course we had to sing our Halloween songs & say our Halloween Rhymes.
Oh, yes! Check out the spiders in the hall.
This group is catching on to beginning sounds.
Mrs. A & I notice that, as each child finds his/her name on coat rack & to indicate they're now at school, not at home.
This week the challenge was to brainstorm words beginning with "O". It is fun to hear he words kids come up with: over, off, on,October, orange, oval, ocean, octopus...
There is still a bit'o Halloween Fun to come next week!
Our Halloween Party will be on Thursday at 10 0'clock. Please, feel free to join in the fun of a parade through classrooms, a spooky snack & a game or two.
Unfortunately Mrs. A. missed some of this fun. She had to tend to a sick child at home.
But fortunately Ms. Jane , Ms. Ann & Mr. Doug stepped right up to assist in our classroom! Thank you so much!
Forms to reserve a time for upcoming Parent/Teacher Conferences were sent home!
Be sure you check your child's backpack. Thank you.
Book orders were placed. Thank you for your orders!
Mrs. A & I are looking forward to more fun in learning with your child!
