Catholic Charities: Diocesan Life Issue of 2020
Several states have legalized physician-assisted suicide and efforts are underway in NYS. As Catholics we believe in the sanctity of every human life, from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death. At the recommendation of our Diocesan Public Policy Committee Bishop Matano has chosen this as our diocesan advocacy issue for 2020. Parishes will be collecting signatures in opposition to the legalization of physician-assisted suicide during Public Policy Weekend in February. Today we remember St. Elizabeth! Filled with the Holy Spirit, Elizabeth's proclamation to Mary (Luke 1:41-45) are powerful words we pray often in the Hail Mary. St. Elizabeth and St. Zacharia, her husband, play a role in our salvation history-pray for us!
We also celebrate
St. Peter Chrysologus, Bishop and Doctor of the Church. He is known as being a man "of the Golden Words," giving short and direct homilies with sound and powerful teachings. St. Peter Chrysologus, pray for us.
