Reading:
- Non-fiction text on sea creatures
- We started a KWL (know, want to learn, learned) chart today on what students know about animals that live in the sea and they came up with questions they wanted to know more about
- We started talking about author’s purpose (P.I.E.) to persuade, inform, and entertain
- We worked on singular and plural nouns more with classifying nouns and identifying the noun in a sentence and determining if it was singular or plural
- We also played a game where I provided students with a word verbally and they determined if the noun is singular or plural
- We keep score and count by twos then do subtraction to show the difference between the two teams
- I will introduce commas this week
- We are also working on beginning blends and final clusters
Spelling:
- We are on list 10
- The post-test for those that need to take the test will be on Friday
Math:
- We are still working on subtraction strategies
- We will have a practice test that we do together on the board Tuesday (tomorrow)
- Students will take the chapter 4 subtraction strategies test on Wednesday
Art:
- We will make tissue paper turkeys on Friday
Social Studies:
- We will be learning about schools long ago and comparing/contrasting them to schools today
- I will be sending home an interview to help your student(s) with to interview an older relative or grandparent. It will be due back to school on Tuesday, November 12.
Snack next week is Ryker. I will be gone on Tuesday, November 12 for a principal’s meeting in Iowa City. Mrs. Horak will be my substitute. I will be back for conferences.
