SCRIP - November ContestThe November SCRIP contest is up and running. During the month of November, make a
SCRIP purchase to be entered into a drawing to win one of two $25 SCRIP gift cards of your choice!
Each child (or children) whose family makes a purchase will be allowed a special "Dress Down Day" on Monday, December 2nd.
SCRIP - WE NEED YOUWe are going to begin selling physical SCRIP gift cards on Friday and Monday mornings, but we need volunteers to assist with this process! This does not have to be a weekly commitment, rather we can work on a week, two week or monthly rotation depending on the assistance we are able to receive. Please consider helping out this great new initiative that helps make St. Matthew affordable! We are looking for the following:- 2 people to sell on Friday mornings from 730-830AM in the main school entrance
- 2 people to sell on Monday mornings from 730-830AM in the ECC entrance
If interested in helping out, please email Holly Barrett at
holly.b.barrett@gmail.com ASAP with the days and your preference for how often you are available. A schedule will be created with the responses. Once we have the volunteers we will begin purchasing the inventory and selling.
Strategic PlanningSt. Matthew Elementary is excited to announce its participation in a strategic planning initiative. Catholic School Management (CSM), a division of Christian Brothers, is providing its Strategic Management and Development Program to St. Matthew. Our school is one of 30 schools within the Archdiocese of Dubuque which is participating in this initiative.
The Strategic Management and Development Program is a four-year, onsite consultation service that helps schools to position themselves for long-term viability and vitality through improving the effectiveness of school boards, enhancing school image and communications, raising money, managing enrollment and marketing themselves more effectively.
This program promises to make a significant difference for participating schools because of CSM’s track record: 99% of the more than 3,000 schools it has worked with continue to thrive after fully completing this consultation program.
Over the four-year program, the St. Matthew community can expect to see:
· Clear promotion of the mission, Catholic identity and academic excellence of St. Matthew
· Increased school board and committee operations
· Creation and implementation of a strategic plan
· Growth in fundraising capabilities
· Enhancements to student recruitment, admissions, and student retention programs
· Expanding marketing and communications efforts
· Evidence of being a sustainable institution for years to come.
We are very excited about the opportunities this program creates as we look to share the amazing work that is happening throughout the school with the greater Cedar Rapids community, while continuing to build upon our already solid foundation. This strategic planning initiative is generously supported by the Archdiocese of Dubuque's Educational Development Endowment Fund. Currently, the committee members are: Father Don Czapla, Lauren Shovein, Eric Thuente, Jackie Luzum, and Kelly Yordi.
