On July 7, five police officers were ambushed and killed as they guarded a peaceful protest in Dallas.
Several more officers were wounded, along with some civilians. The tragedy was contained by the quick action of dozens more brave law enforcement officers. Now the recovery and healing begin.
The Knights of Columbus has a long history of standing in solidarity and support of those who serve our community – especially law enforcement, first responders, our military and veterans, clergy and religious. In this time of pain and need, we ask for your special prayers and support for these families.
The Texas State Council of the Knights of Columbus met in Dallas on July 8-10. As that meeting concluded, a unanimous decision was made to establish the Dallas Heroes Fund to solicit donations for the immediate support of the affected families of these officers. Advance checks for $1,000 each will be delivered in the next few days to the families of these five slain “Guardians of Freedom”. And all money raised through this fund will be distributed to the affected families. This is a rapid response effort only, and the fund will close August 15, 2016.
Thank you
