Advent is the season of expectant waiting and anticipation and preparation for the coming of Jesus Christ in three ways:
- To recall and celebrate His first coming at Christmas.
- To anticipate and prepare for His second coming at the end of time.
- To prepare our hearts for His personal coming here and now most particularly in the Sacraments of our Church.
There are multiple ways that the Church helps us prepare. The Masses during Advent are full of prophetic words about the Christ, this year's readings will especially focus on John the Baptist heralding Jesus' coming. The Advent Wreath and Advent Calendar are both excellent ways to help your family with the preparation and counting down the days with Scripture stories. Following Mary and Joseph on their journey helps children to put themselves in the story. There are many beautiful Christmas stories to read or watch with your children. You can incorporate your family traditions with Church traditions and vice versa. Pick a Church tradition to make your own. Look up the meaning behind the many symbols of Christmas to see how they came to be and what they say about Christ's coming. Many of them are linked on our website's:
Dec. 4 - 6th Grade Confessions
Dec. 14 - First Reconciliation Retreat 9AM - Noon (First Confessions)
Dec. 18 - Family Mexican Pot-Luck and Christmas Program
Please help prepare your child to go to Confession before the night they are scheduled to go. A Guide to Confession will be sent home with your child the week prior.

Annual Faith Formation Advent/Christmas Program and Pot Luck Dinner
Take some time out from the busy time of year and spend it with your parish family! We'll have some fun and listen to the Christmas Story together as we reflect on what the season is all about. This is for the entire family!
When: Dec. 18 6:00 - 7:30PM
Where: Malinowski Center
What to Bring: Mexican or Tex/Mex Dishes - tamales, enchiladas, beans, rice, tacos, chips, salsa, queso, salad, vegetables, empanadas, cookies, cakes, etc. Whatever you and your family enjoy - bring some to share with your faith formation family!
