Dear OLF Family,
Advent is upon us and we hope your Thanksgiving was rich in the peace of Christ and the joy of the presence of family and friends!! Now that the Advent candle is lit, we move towards the grace of the Christmas season with renewed Faith in our Savior and God: Jesus Christ!
Don't forget, Holiday Happy Hour is coming this December 6th at the school. From 2-5pm there will be shopping, food, wine and good company! Also, with Thanksgiving and the birth of our country I was reminded of a little known but influential apparition of a soul in Purgatory to a family in Virginia at the inception of the U.S.A in the 1700's that did a great deal to reveal the Catholic Faith to the new settlers. These are the kind of providential happenings that should convince us to stay strong in our Catholic identity and as Americans!! The story of the Wizard Clip is here:
I will close with the Collect (opening prayer) of the Mass for the First Sunday of Advent: Grant your faithful, we pray, Almighty God, the resolve to run forth to meet your Christ with righteous deeds at his coming, so that, gathered at his right hand, they may be worthy to possess the heavenly Kingdom. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
