Congratulations to Fr. Stephen Schumacher (VU'12), who was ordained to the priesthood in May at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis. He is completing studies this year at Pontifical North American College in Rome. Thank you, Fr. Schu, for answering the call!  We are so proud of you. 2) Jae Maeng (VU'15) and Julianna Romanoski (VU'17) were married in June at Nashville's Cathedral of the Incarnation, surrounded by dozens of UCats. They reside in Johnson City, where Jae is in medical school. 3) Christopher Romanoski (VU'19) popped the question to Paula Kowitz (BU'19) in July. They will marry next summer. 4) Michael Brown (VU'18) and Kristin Gummersheimer (VU'19) were married  in July. The couple reside in Nashville. 5) Alec (VU'12) and Frannie (Boyle, VU'11) Moen welcomed their fourth child, Raphaella Mercedes, in May. Alec is an attorney in St. Louis, and Frannie is a stay-at-home mom who says: “I'm quite positive these little ones would not be here without Vandy Catholic, so we are very grateful!! And we pray God continues to do good work through you all!” 6) David (VU'09) and Betsy (Roberts, VU'08) Donlon live in Nashville with their three children. David teaches at St. Cecilia Academy, and Betsy is an Assistant Professor at Aquinas College. Betsy sent a note saying: “UCat played such an important role in our lives at such a formative time, we are truly grateful! It is such a gift to have an authentic Catholic community and to be surrounded by others who encourage growth in your faith. The way UCat helped pave the way for our family life is truly beautiful.” 7) UCat’s Trifecta of Chaplains - Fr. Gervan Menezes, Fr. Michael Fye, and Fr. John Sims Baker (VULS’89)- were together for UCat’s first daily Mass of the semester on August 19, which preceded a Farewell Party for Fr. Fye. Fr. Gervan is UCat’s new chaplain; Fr. Fye now serves as pastor of St. Ann Church and School in Nashville; and Fr. Baker, our founding chaplain, is now pastor of St. Rose of Lima Church and School. 8) Hogan and Mary Katherine (Abele) Bryant (both VU’16) welcomed their first child, Milas Karl, on September 4. The Bryants live in Nashville. 9) Octavia White (VU’18) is back in Nashville teaching fourth grade at Holy Rosary Academy.  After graduation, she spent a “profoundly challenging and beautiful year of service” working with children in central Mexico. 10) Ruth Kalscheur  (VU’09) did FOCUS for five years after graduating from Vandy.  Since then she has been teaching math and theology at an all girls Catholic high school outside of Baltimore. “My interest in both disciplines was sparked at Vanderbilt, math through my major, and theology through Vandy Catholic,” she says. 11) Carly Rupp (BU’19) is serving as a FOCUS missionary at Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina. 12) Zach Morrisey  (VU'19) is a FOCUS missionary at Tulane University in New Orleans. 13) Michael Fullan and Katie Greaves (both VU'16) were married in June at Nashville's Cathedral of the Incarnation. They reside in Nashville. 14) Sarah Alfieri (VU'17) said yes to Patrick McAlexander's (VU'16) proposal for marriage! 15) Nick Aguirre   (VU'14) has joined University Catholic as Director of Campus Ministry and released a Christian album, the Holly and the Ivy.
