A RECAP OF DECEMBER EVENTS
DECEMBER 6 - FIRST FRIDAY COFFEE AND CONVERSATION: Attendees enjoyed a morning of socializing with friends, tasty food, and an informative talk by Peg Musegades from the Environmental Challenge Ministry. Peg spoke about St. Francis, the patron saint of the environment and Pope Francis.
The Environmental Challenge Ministry will be presenting the documentary, Paris to Pittsburgh: The Climate for Change is Now, on Sunday, January 5 at 10:15am (following the 9:00 Mass) in Room 212. The event is free.
In addition, the ministry has applied to the Interfaith Power and Light for a program called Cool Congregations Challenge. Their entry category is Sacred Grounds Steward. They filled out a questionnaire and sent photos of the area around St. Francis of the Woods shrine. The plan is to grow native plants in the area to improve the ecosystem. The goal is to attract birds, butterflies, dragonflies and other pollinators. In the spring they will be asking for help from members of Pax Christi to prepare the soil and collect shade plants from their gardens for the St. Francis of the Woods area.
