DACA: What's at Stake for Parish Families, and Catholic Responses: You know the story of the Good Samaritan? This is you! As a baptized Catholic, your good works have an eternal value, because they are united to Jesus Christ; your good works are His good works! See Luke 10: 25-37. Ever since Jesus told this story, Catholics have worked to protect the lives of the innocent and vulnerable. In the US, we have a tradition of helping others that can make you proud to be Catholic!
Now you have a chance to look at changes in our society, and talk with other Catholics about new ways to protect the vulnerable. DACA recipients, who arrived in the US when they were children, have been approved by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services to remain in this country, and to work - at least temporarily. But this might change. What is the Catholic response? Come to this event, listen to the people who are affected by DACA, and imagine if it were your family. What would you need? What would you hope for? Where would you go?
When and where: Sat. Jan. 18, 1-3 p.m., Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1244 S. Power Rd., Mesa.
