Dear Parents,
Less than half of the candidates for Confirmation have a completed submission for next week's Confirmation Mass.
I need this online form completed (seen below) so that I can have the correct spelling of your child's name, their sponsor, and their saint name for our official documents. If you haven't had the chance to complete the form yet, please do so now. I need it by Friday so that I can prepare for Sunday's rehearsal.
Reflections Now Due:
I have been getting several candidates for Confirmation sending into me their final reflections from their Confirmation Guidelines packet. If they have lost or need to print another copy of the packet of reflection forms, they are available below. The reflections are now due.
Final Chance to Make Up Confirmation Retreat:
Several candidates for Confirmation in our program were not able to make the Confirmation retreat on Sunday, October 6, 2019. Some did alternate experiences in place of the retreat and some still need to complete the expectation. The final chance to make up this experience is on
Sunday, January 12. 2020 at Saint Clements parish. Please contact me at
david@standrew.org for more details and to arrange the proper permissions to attend.
Rehearsal for Confirmation:
The rehearsal for the Confirmation Mass will be on Sunday, January 12, 2020 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm in the main church. In attendance should be the candidate and his/her sponsor (or an adult to stand in for the sponsor).
What to Expect:
The Confirmation Mass, as you know is at 6:30pm on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. The Mass will last approximately 1.5 hours long.
Per the request of the presiding bishop, I am going to ask for all candidates to arrive at church at 6:00pm. Bishop Hicks wants to have the opportunity to meet with and talk to all the candidates and will need candidates to arrive no later than 6:00pm so that this can happen.
Your child will have a reserved seat during the Mass. For all the candidates to have a seat, it will require 4-5 rows in the church. Behind those rows, you and your family may take seats on a first come, first serve basis. The church will be opened at 5:45pm if you wish to come to choose your seats. Rest assured, there will be plenty of seats as usually only 12-13 rows of the church are used. You may also want to know that the taking of photos is permitted from the side aisles.
Finally, I want to reiterate something that I will tell the students this Sunday at rehearsal. The attire for confirmation is formal. They should dress up for the event just like they would if they were receiving an award from the governor. I also talk about the solemnity of the event being equal to the solemnity of funeral. It would be rude at such important events to come wearing ragged jeans or just a t-shirt.
If you have any questions about the attire or any other questions about Confirmation, do not hesitate to write me and ask. I'm very much looking forward to it!
God bless,
David Heimann
