Hi all! I hope everyone had a great first week getting back into the swing of things. As I mentioned in the previous note, we made and painted sand sculptures on Wednesday and Thursday. They had a lot of fun making them, so I hope you enjoy them at home as much as we did here! This week (Jan. 13- Jan. 17) we have more exciting things happening. Monday there is no school for students; I hope they enjoy the extra long weekend. Our plans for reading next week will include learning new vocabulary words, reading "Where Does Food Come From?", practicing contractions, and words with ay or ai. Science is going to continue to be hands on as we prepare to make homemade soil. They will learn all about the different parts of soil and what it is made of. We started a new chapter in math all about addition with and subtraction with 2 digits. We will continue to work on improving our skills in addition and subtraction this week. Lastly, we will have a pre spelling test on Tuesday and a post spelling test on Friday. We will work on our words during the week here at school to become experts at spelling them, but if you have any extra time at home, I encourage you to work with your student! Again, if you have any comments, questions, or concerns please feel free to contact me. My email is jmiller@stjameswashington.org and my phone number is 314-210-5618. I have enjoyed getting to know your students so far, and look forward to the rest of the year! Have a great weekend.
