Parish Update -- February 13, 2020
Dear parishioners of St. Joseph:
My apologies that it has taken some time to get back to these.
1. Mardi Gras Party -- We are celebrating Mardi Gras at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, February 26, 2020. Monetary donations will be accepted to benefit the St. Joseph Food Pantry and the Modern Woodmen will match, up to $2,500 of those donations!
2. Ash Wednesday, February 26 is a little less than two weeks away. We will have Masses at 7 AM, 12:05 PM, and 7 PM. ...and Lent begins. Next week we'll have all of our information for our Lenten Activities.
3. Cory Gallo and Master Plan -- Last night (February 12, 2019) we had an excellent meeting with Cory Gallo as we began discussing a master plan for the campus here at St. Joseph. This plan will take several months to put together and we would like as much input as possible. The Planning Committee is made up of members of the Staff, The Parish Pastoral Council, the Finance Council, the Physical Plant Committee and some of the other parish organizations. They are Dcn. Jeff Artigues, Dennis Bock, Richard Coughlin, Meg Ferguson, Cindy Harris, Mike Kassouf, Sal Keith, Dcn. John and Dawn McGinley, Glenn Schmidt, Wes Shelton, Joe Webb, and Charles Winfield. I may have missed some folks. I am sorry if I did. Most of those members were there last night and we had a lot of good discussion. The idea is to create a road map for the future, finish developing what we have, and utilize the space we have in the best way possible based on our needs. We are looking at having Cory available after the 9am and 11:30 Masses on Sunday, March 22, so that everyone can have an understanding of what is going on and even an opportunity to provide input or feedback.
4. Internal Controls Audit -- Some have asked recently about the status of our audit. Watkins, Ward, & Stafford began an audit with us last year. When I contacted them recently, they told me they were working on the final report.
5. Parish Pastoral Council -- Last month we discussed a number of topics including, Baptismal Prep, Marriage Prep, the possibility of a safety committee and active shooter training, children and Adoration, a few updates to the PPC constitution and by-laws.
6. Projects -- We are going to be doing a few things around campus. We are looking at putting an automatic door opener on the door closest to the handicap parking lot for easier access for walker and wheelchair users. We are also going to repair the drainage and the ramp in the back of the parish center where the water fills up whenever we have a heavy rain. We are also working with the city and we will see some more lighting on the grounds in the next few weeks.
7. Office Closed -- We will be closing the office Monday for President's Day.
Peace,
Fr. Jason
