“Not as man sees does God see, because he sees the appearance but the LORD looks into the heart.” (From 1 Samuel 16:1-13)
How do you look at others? Do you focus on their clothing, their skin color, their ethnicity, their weight, their makeup, their hair, the brand of shoes they wear, the purse they carry, their car, by the thickness of their wallet or by what’s in their purse? Do you judge success by the size of their tractors or by how many acres of land they have? Do you hop on the County Assessor’s website to look up the value of their house, outbuildings, and land as a way to judge them? Are you sitting in the pews and worrying about who dressed up too much or not enough for church? Are you sitting in the bleachers judging and commenting on each person that walks into the gym? Or, like the LORD, are you looking at the content of their hearts? Are you appreciating how hard it might be for others to make it through the day? Are you noticing the sacrifices someone is making for their community, their family, their friends, their church, their employer, or the stranger in need? God looks at our heart...what will be found in yours? Judgment of others, superficial things, or love and mercy for all? Look with love, serve with love, cast aside the judgments, and you’ll be on the path to Christ! Amen!
