Bring your candles from home to be blessed!
The Feast of the Presentation of the Lord marks the fortieth day after Christmas, and commemorates Christ’s dedication in the Jerusalem temple (Luke 2:22–38). In England, the Presentation came to be known as “Candlemas,” since it is the Church’s custom to bless candles that will be used throughout the year. You are invited to bring candles to be blessed that will be used in the home during 2020!

The Third Sunday of Ordinary Time has been instituted by Pope Francis as the Sunday of the Word of God. How can we bring the Word of God from Sunday Mass to our homes? If your family Bible is resting on a shelf, consider bringing it out and placing in a special, but accessible place. By reading and reflecting on Sacred Scripture, Catholics join those who have taken God's Word to heart and put it into practice in their lives. If Scripture remains just words on a page, our work is not done. We need to meditate on the message and put it into action in our lives. Only then can the word be "living and effective."(Hebrews 4:12). Excerpt from www.usccb.com

In our PREK-5th grade Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program, The Word is proclaimed in the most objective manner possible, so that the words of the adult do not impede the communication between God who speaks and God’s creature who listens. The only aim of the adult’s words is to discreetly serve the listening to God’s Word, in accordance with Jesus’ own statement in the gospel: “My teaching is not mine but his who sent me.” (John 7:16)
Our music and movement program for infants to PREK and their caregivers meets weekly on Tuesdays from 10:00am to 11:00am in the large classroom in the basement. It is a wonderful time for fellowship and fun! Join us!
