After checking with the Ripley County Board of Health, we are clear to resume school as normal tomorrow.
However, if your child is in grades K, 1, or 6 and IS NOT vaccinated, or has a sibling in these grades and is not vaccinated, he/she needs to stay home for the next 21 days. Please notify the office if this affects your child. We, too, will be checking all immunization records again to see who should not be coming to school.
Even with the two-dose vaccine, it is possible for your child to get a mild case of chickenpox. While it is unlikely, please be aware that it usually starts with a fever. Please keep any child with a fever of any degree home until you are certain what the cause is. Students can return to school 24 hours after the fever breaks (for a virus), or after the last blister crusts over (for Chickenpox).
The Ripley Co Department of Health did offer to come and do a vaccine clinic if anyone is interested. Please let me know if you are.
If you have any questions, please reach out to me via email or phone; I am in school today. Thank you for your patience and cooperation in this matter.
