Welcome to the Jan. 29, 2020 edition of Just 3 Things, the weekly social action newsletter of the Office of Human Life & Dignity. Here are a few of the important priorities, news and ideas of the week.
Parents who were hoping the California legislature would mandate placing sex ed curricula on each public school district website, so they could see what their children were being taught, were disappointed by the state Senate Education Committee's vote to kill Senate Bill 673--despite a strong showing of opposition by parents and the
California Catholic Conference.
Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone met with Pope Francis Jan. 27 along with bishops, auxiliary bishops, and retired bishops from California, Nevada and Hawaii as part of the ad limina visit held every 5 to 8 years. Archbishop Cordileone said the wide-ranging 2 1/2 hour meeting included discussions of youth and young adult ministry, the clerical sexual abuse crisis, marriage and family, migration, how to be a good bishop, political divisions in the U.S. and divisive rhetoric in the Church. The Archbishop also gave the pope a presentation copy of the
Mass of the Americas composed by Frank LaRoccha. More from

The Walk for Life West Coast drew tens of thousands of pro-life supporters on Saturday in San Francisco, and positive news coverage overall, perhaps because of President Trump's
in-person speech at the March for Life the day before in Washington,D.C. and the threatened federal cutoff of money to California because of the state's
mandated inclusion of abortion in health insurance plans, in violation of the
Weldon Amendment. Lots of photos, stories and news coverage on the regularly updated Walk for Life West Coast archdiocesan page.
