Dear STM Families,
We have 2 known cases of Influenza A within the STM preschool and wanted you to have an awareness that the flu is going through the school. Please read the information below and remember that you should not be sending students to school if they have had a fever and/or vomiting within 24 hours. Please be vigilant in watching for signs and symptoms.
Influenza will have a fever of 100.4 and a new cough and/or sore throat. We have been doing the following procedures here at school and we ask that you follow these procedures at home to keep everyone healthy and to stop the spread of the illness.
- Keep your children home until your child is fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.
- Increase hand washing
- Teach everyone to cough in the arm; not in their hands
- Increased cleaning and sanitizing high touch surfaces.
- We encourage flu vaccine.
If your child should become ill with influenza-like symptoms, keep them home from school to prevent further spread and contact your physician for testing and treatment; it is not too late to vaccinate.
Watch your child for symptoms of fever, cough, congestion, body aches and sore throat. Please notify the school office of any student illnesses. Please click the link below for information on the signs and symptoms of Influenza.
Peace and blessings,
Mrs. DeWolfe
