- Note: On Ash Wednesday and Fridays during Lent, there will NOT be an alternate menu option at lunch.
- Pre-Registration forms are DUE; please turn these into the main office ASAP as these help with planning for the following year. If you are NOT planning on returning, please let us know.
Bring in your Box Tops and Hy-Vee Receipts to your classroom next week for your chance to win a classroom ice cream party. Anyone who brings in receipts and/or Box Tops will get a comfy clothes day on Monday, February 24th.

Pick-A-Pack and Pick-A-Cork
St. Matthew Mardi Gras is doing Pick-A-Pack and Pick-A-Cork again this year and we need your help. We are looking for donations and would need either a bottle of wine or a 6 pack of beer. You can also donate cash by giving it to the main office and letting them know that it is for the Pick-A-Pack,or you can order scrip cards either physical or email (there are several places you can buy beer or wine at) so we will take them all. You can drop off donations in the school office (please put it in a bag.)
Also, don't forget to get your raffle ticket today for free tuition or $3,000 in your pocket! The form is attached below; just complete and return!
St. Matthew First Communion - Saturday, April 18th at 4PM
St. Matthew Parish has 42 students currently preparing to receive their First Eucharist. We will celebrate as a parish community with them on Saturday, April 18 at our 4pm Mass. You are invited to participate in this special Mass as well as attend the reception in Kearn Hall afterward. Please keep our Communicants and their families in your prayers as they prepare to receive this extraordinary Sacrament.

It is with heartfelt appreciation that Luke and I would like to thank all of the amazing Jaguar family we are blessed to be a part of, especially during our time of loss. From Principal Conlon, to all the newly-named School Moms (Luke's current and former teachers), to all his classmates and the students of St. Matthew, and school counselor, librarians, and other administration and school staff, we are so appreciative of the out-pouring of love and support. We feel surrounded by a gigantic Jaguar Hug that helps sustain us. We are touched by the school prayer service, the beautiful quilt signed by his class, the wonderful cards that each classmate wrote, and all the kind words and prayers. A special thank you to those who attended and participated in the visitation and funeral mass as well. That made it very special to us. Thanks again for all you've done for us--you truly exemplify God's love.

Summer Solutions
Believe it or not, It's time to start thinking about summer! Attached you will find the St. Matthew 2020 Summer Solutions Parent Flyer. This flyer contains our school code and ordering instructions. The Summer Solutions site and school code have been activated, so you can begin ordering at any time. This is a great tool to help keep students engaged throughout the summer with minimal time requirements, additionally, this program is the same one used throughout the school year so your students are familiar with these problems.
We are in need of any old cell phone devices - Android 4.4 and iOS 8.0 or later
Thanks to the generous donation of virtual reality headsets, we are needing old phones so our students can experience VR! If you have any old phones around your house that are not being used, we would gladly take those off your hands and use them in our VR setting. This is a critical part of our implementation.
Linn County Youth Day at the Fair - Mark Your Calendars
Thursday, June 25th is Youth Day at the Linn County Fair. There will be many free events and activities for kids of all ages, include educational booths, free train rides, free face painting, Cock-a-doodle zoo, an educational zone and more.
It’s time to celebrate and have some fun!

RSVP to join us at the Sock Hop
All St. Matthew Early Childhood Center, Preschool and Elementary School families are invited to join us for the Catholic Schools Week kick-off Sock Hop!
Pizza, treats and soda will be served during the event. We’ll also have a DJ playing fun tunes in the gym for dancing and face painting going on. We’ll have our hula hoop contest as well! Of course the ever-popular St. Matthew School Book Fair will open that night! Get ready to sock hop and shop!
Please note that all children must be accompanied by an adult at the Sock Hop. (Children attending CARE after school will not be allowed to go to the sock hop until they are picked by their parent or other designated adult.) We’d also like adults to help us discourage children from running in the gym or throughout the building. Thank you!
Admission will be a donation of 1 pair of socks per child and adult. There will be no charge for the Sock Hop. The socks will be donated to the homeless shelter. **You must still RSVP so we make sure to order enough food and drinks!

SAVE THE DATE for Royal T Night 2020 -- Keys for Keyboards
Save the date Friday, April 17th for Regis’ annual fundraising event, Royal T Night! This is a fun, adult-only, casual evening of great food and drink, silent and live auctions, raffles, games and fellowship with the Regis community. Proceeds raised from this year’s Royal T Night will go toward updating the computer technology utilized by students for 1-to-1 use and in the computer lab. A fun addition to this year’s event -- entertainment by Pianopalooza, dueling pianos! Message from the Principal
Winter is certainly not giving up; this week has definitely been an indication of that. Hopefully though we have warmer weather in the days and weeks ahead; I just heard that it was 68 degrees in Antartica yesterday so there is hope!
As I dream of warmer weather, I think of summer and of course that means planning for the new year. If you could please do us a favor and turn in the
pre-registration forms, this will be helpful in our planning.
We would love to have all of your Jaguars return; we truly enjoy each and every one of them!

Essentials Team Highlight
In Art Club, we will be doing some fun things coming up! We are currently finished up Mardi Gras projects in art class.
In 3rd and 4th Grade Music, we are playing recorders! This week you should have seen a Seesaw code come home so your child can log in on the Class app and record their tests at home, too!
In PE, kids had fun playing volleyball. We are currently doing tennis and improving our hand-eye coordination. Next we will combine the two sports and play Eclipse Ball!
