St. Matthias is really MAD (Making A Difference)
In keeping with our Parish Mission, our purpose is to influence communities by modeling the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. As disciples, WE ARE CALLED to be light for the kingdom, reaching out with a loving and caring spirit. Accordingly, we should proclaim the message of the Lord with a passion that is energizing, encouraging and evident in the examples we set. Similar to a “random act of kindness” card crusade, we are printing custom forms with a “tear-off” card at the bottom that may be distributed in your own acts of kindness. No matter what your good deed (see some ideas below), leave behind a kindness card from our church- which will be in honor of our 40th anniversary activities. Keep the larger top portion to fill out if you would like to share your experience with others here in the parish. For example, you may wish to write where you left your card, how you felt when you left the card, or how someone reacted as they benefitted from your kindness.
As St. Matthias parishioners, we are celebrating 40 years of discipleship and we are really MAD (Making A Difference)! When we act as disciples, especially to strangers, we begin to build friendships based on the values and principles preached in the Gospels. This is an effective way for each of us to do one kind deed of evangelization without expecting anything in return. By engaging as active participants in our mission to share the love of Christ, we set into motion a ripple effect that starts right here in our community and has the potential to reach far and wide. For every simple act of kindness offered, one powerful impact may be made. With humble hearts and contagious enthusiasm, we go forth to serve one another.
