Thy Kingdom Come!
Dear RC families, in Christ,
We're looking for a host home for next year's 2020-21 young men RC Missionaries.
A beautiful couple with no children at home graciously hosted three young men missionaries each of the last three years and shared their life with these young men. They won't be able to host them anymore, so we're looking for a home to host them...
The three missionaries would be high school graduates, so usually 18 - 20 years old. They are very generous young men dedicating a gap year to serve the church through Camp River Ridge, ECYD, and youth ministry. They need a home for next year!
We're looking for a home with the following qualities:
- The home will need to host 3 young men. They become a "part of the family" for a few months.
- The missionaries cannot live in the same home with permanent minors as well. Grandchildren and minors can always continue to spend time at the home while the missionaries are there, but minors can't be there year-round.
- The host family can be an "empty nester" couple, a single male adult, and even perhaps an older single woman, or a college student even.
- The home shouldn't feel cramped with the addition of 3 young men. But they could possibly all bunk in one room or share two rooms.
- The home should be within 1 hour of Westchester, OH (the closer the better, but we'll take whatever the Lord sends!).
- The host family should be living out their Catholic faith, not have any serious family issues, and be open to the ministry of Regnum Christi and Camp River Ridge.
- The prior host family will be a "back up" family for those days the new host family's home is temporarily occupied with relatives or other guests for reunions and the like.
- They have to fundraise quite a bit for their mission year, so we aren't able to provide a stipend for their stay. Most host home expenses revolve around having food at home for three young men that eat a lot! Though they are often out and will eat at youth groups, camp, or the Legionary priest home.
- And more ... details can be discussed in person.
What are the dates for this program?
- They arrive mid-August, usually August 15.
- They leave Cincinnati to visit their own families for Thanksgiving, Christmas time, and another weekend in the year.
- They are away from the area for about a month, Dec 15-ish to Jan 15ish.
- They are mostly at camp the months of June and July for the summer camps.
- They finish their year the last weekend of July.
- They are often away from the area on weekends because of weekend retreats at River Ridge.
- They will often be away from the host home for large periods of time, especially Monday and Thursday mornings, Wednesdays, and most evenings, arriving back home between 9-10 pm.
- They leave early every morning, at about 7 am, for their morning prayers and Mass.
- I am their director and formator. Hosting them would mean you'd see me a little more often!
The missionaries are ESSENTIAL to our ministry at Camp River Ridge and with our high school and middle school encounters. We need your help to find them a home...
Would you know an empty nester couple you could suggest? A widowed man that lives alone?
Benefits??
- You provide a big service to the Church by hosting young men dedicating a year as missionaries to do great work throughout the three states.
- They become a part of your family for the year, and sometimes they remain close friends for years after.
- They can give you some company if you are empty nesters.
- Often you'll help these boys grow through your example and experience.
- And who knows what else Providence would offer?
Let me know by email or phone if you know of a couple or someone that would fit those characteristics.
Thank you for your help!
Yours in Christ,
Fr Lucio Boccacci
Camp Director
