Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
We are not only called to admire Jesus for the Man that he is, we are called to follow Him as well. The Sermon on the Mount, from today’s Sunday reading, addresses the Disciples of Jesus as well as us. Jesus words should challenge us and our attitudes towards life. The teachings of Jesus are hard and they call us all to move to a new way of thinking and action. Today we are called to love our enemy, and we are to do this then we have to act and pray. In the face of hatred, we are called to act with overflowing love and compassion.
Mark your calendars for Sunday May 3, for our 2020 Parish Spring Festival. Volunteers are still needed in many areas. I highly encourage you to make your commitment to helping our parish at the Festival. If you have not picked up your Spring Festival raffle tickets, they are available from members of our Spring Festival Committee members after Mass or pick them up from our parish office. You may return Spring Festival tickets to an ushers at Mass or return them to the parish office.
There is an updated Safe environment program that is offered by the Archdiocese of Galveston Houston. The IGNITE campaign has been going on for a few months here in our parish. Everyone in our parish has been asked to consider in one way or another to contribute to this archdiocese campaign to improve the ministry of our archdiocese. Our Goal Archdiocese IGNITE capital campaign is $750,000 over 3 ½ to 4 years with some $253,000 to be returned to the STHY earmarked for new lighting and flooring in Guyot Hall.

With the season of lent, we welcome our Friday Fish Fry sponsored by our Knights of Columbus. Every Friday during Lent, the K of Cs will be serving a delicious fish dinner in the Guyot Hall. It’s a great testament to stewardship in action, so thank you brother Knights!
Also following the Lent Fish dinners, every Friday we will have Stations of the Cross in the church beginning at 7:00 p.m. I hope many of you will want to spend 30-45 minutes on Friday nights with this popular Lenten devotion. It’s a great way to spend a Friday evening and come for dinner and stay for Stations.
Speaking of Liturgies here at St. Hyacinth, a special congratulations goes out to Mr. Scott Underwood, who has become the newest instituted acolyte for the Church and St. Hyacinth. The special ceremony of institution took place on Tuesday February 11th with Bishop George Sheltz being the presider for the Mass of institution. We wish Mr. Underwood the best in his special service to the Church.
Saturday February 29th we will have our sixth annual Parish Ministry Retreat. Our Director of Liturgy and Music, Mrs. Pamela Pitman has worked hard over the last several months planning a wonderful retreat for all those who participate in the liturgy of STHY. John Angotti will be our Special Guest Speaker and Music Artist. Register online at Sthyacinth.org.
Finally, please BEWARE of scammers sending out emails and text messages claiming to be Fr. Reginald and asking for money and gift cards. I would NEVER ask you to ask for money nor buy gift cards by text or email If you receive that type of request...please do not make any purchase. It is a scam!
God Bless,
Fr. Reginald Samuels
