Youth Ministry Update: Lent Edition
Today, Ash Wednesday enters us into the liturgical season of Lent. I pray that your Lenten journey will prepare your heart for the joy of Easter. Below you'll find some resources which can help your family draw nearer to Christ during this special season.
Ash Wednesday Mass evening options locally:
- 5:30pm (St. Paul; Electra)
- 7:00pm (Sacred Heart)
- 8:30pm (Our Lady of Guadalupe; Spanish)
CRS; How to Practice Lent (short videos on "What is Lent?", Prayer, Fasting, & Almsgiving - try watching one as a family each Friday) Matthew Kelly's Best Lent Ever (sign up for daily short Lenten email reflection)
Additional Lent notes:
- Each Friday during Lent the Stations of the Cross are prayed in our church at 7:00 pm. NEXT WEEK our teens will lead Stations of the Cross! The booklets we'll use are moving and written in a language that speaks straight to the heart of young people. Families are encouraged to attend & support our youth.
- We're looking for teen volunteers to help with this prayer service! Please reply to this email if you'd like to serve as a greeter, sing in the choir, or assist in any other way.
- Wichita Falls Area Lenten Penance Services all @ 7pm
- Father encourages families to attend our parish's Lenten Mission on Mon-Wed, March 9-11 beginning each night at 6:30pm in church.
- the speaker is Father Paschal Coby, a Franciscan friar who ministered in Honduras for 4 years and now serves in Nicaragua as a chaplain of a regional hospital & prison and runs a chastity ministry.
- Limited childcare available. Call the office in advance to request.
- There will be a reception in the Parish Hall following the presentation on the last night of the Lenten Mission.
- Each Friday of Lent the Knights of Columbus put on a Fish Fry in the Parish Hall from 5:30-6:45pm. The Catholic Daughters also sell desserts during the Fish Fry.
May this Lenten season draw your family nearer in relationship with our merciful Lord,
