More about Casa de Esperanza (House of Hope) and how you can get involved:
- Casa de Esperanza de los Ninos strives to break the cycle of child abuse and neglect for at-risk infants, children and their families by providing comprehensive residential and family support programs that transform people and communities.
- Casa provides safety, hope, and a home to children whose families are affected by domestic violence, substance abuse, poverty, homelessness and mental illness.
- Casa is first and foremost a crisis intervention agency, responding to those urgent situations where children are at risk from injury or abuse, and providing immediate safety and care for these children. The children are newborn to six years of age on admission to the Residential Program but may stay until a safe, permanent home can be provided. See the website for 2019 statistics.
- Beyond the Residential Program, Casa also provides Family Support Services including post adoptive services, aftercare and outreach, and developmental services.
- Another aspect of Casa is Foster Care which Maria is a part of. Maria provides temporary emergency care for infants until a more permanent placement can be found. Maria is definitely walking the walk of living like Christ.
- Individual and group volunteers are welcome.
- Community weekly volunteers contribute at least 3 hours per week to assist the Casa de Esperanza staff with childcare, landscaping, maintenance and office duties.
- Group Projects include (but are not limited to) -
- Activity day for the children
- Pizza party or BBQ for the neighborhood
- Drive to collect needed supplies
- Lunch or Dinner for our neighborhood homes
- Yard and house maintenance projects
- Get a team together for our Annual Chili Cook-Off
- Sponsor children for our Christmas program
- Plan and execute a fundraising event
- All volunteers working directly with the children must be 18 years or older.
- Family Volunteer Projects - While we appreciate parents that want to teach their children the joy of helping others, we do not have any direct volunteer opportunities for families. Donation drives can be hosted by children of all ages and is a great way to contribute to the mission of Casa de Esperanza. See the website for donation drive ideas.
