Hi all,
As you have seen, the Bishop has canceled all public Masses until April 8 due to the coronavirus. While this is a very hard time for many of us, let us think of the many blessings that can come of creating new communities within our new technology worlds. We can watch Mass together through Facebook, we can come together in prayer through FaceTime, Zoom, Google Hangouts and Meet, and many other amazing technology platforms we have.
With the City of Austin Ordinance taking place of no groups larger than 10 until May 1, that sadly also applies to our Faith Formation classes and our First Communion Mass. Attached to this note and video you will see by grade level lessons for you to do at home that would have been done in class on March 29, April 19 and April 26.
As for our First Communion students and families, do not frown just yet! While public Masses may not be happening until after April 8, you may begin taking Communion once Masses begin again. In the meantime, parents this is now more than ever an important time to share with your children what the Eucharist means to you and stream St. Austin Mass (in your pjs!) and be able to talk about how you feel going up to receive the Body and Blood of Christ.
We will reunite as one Body of Christ in the flesh soon! And when we do we will PARTY! Please stay safe, remember that Jesus are germs are everywhere, so say your prayers and wash your hands.
God Bless,
Rachel Vaughn and the Staff of St. Austin
