My friends in Christ,
This week, our ministry leaders began reducing our schedule of upcoming ministry events and activities and moving aspects of their programs online. For our part in minimizing the spread of the coronavirus, we have canceled all ministry events that impact our vulnerable populations, including our communion to the sick and the Senior Luncheon on March 26. Likewise, gatherings for our youth programs, including PSR, nurseries, EDGE, and Lifeteen, will be suspended through Sunday, March 29.
Your ministry leaders will be in contact regarding specific ministry events. If you have questions, please contact your ministry leader or call the front office at 404-233-2145.
We will continue to celebrate sacraments and Masses as scheduled until the Archdiocese of Atlanta directs us otherwise. To promote social distancing, masses held in the d'Youville chapel will be moved to the Cathedral starting this weekend.
If you feel unwell or are taking care of the unwell, you are exempt from your Sunday obligation and should stay home. You can join us on
our livestream at 10:30am on Sundays (also, see this list of livestreamed Spanish Masses). We continue to maintain precautions at the Cathedral to help reduce virus transmission including removing communal holy water fonts; sanitizing pews, door-knobs, and high-touch areas in between Masses; leaving doors open to minimize contact; forgoing greetings and the Sign of Peace; distributing Communion under one species in the hand.
I invite you to consider how you can support others in this time, particularly those who are isolated or alone. You might look into ways you can help others through our
card ministry or our
prayer chain.
Please join your own prayers to mine for the health and well-being of our communities, and for wisdom and prudence from our leaders. In charity to others this Lenten season, please be mindful of the vulnerable around you, particularly our elders.
