Hi all,
By now you have seen countless emails, posts, messages, and so forth about what St. Austin’s is doing to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
This morning, Fr. Chuck Kullmann gave dispensation to all to those who felt that going to Mass was a risk. As of this evening, Mayor Steve Adler has put a ban on all events in Austin that are 250+ people including Religious Gatherings.
What does this mean for you and your family? There are many different resources out there where you can watch or listen to Mass online, listen to Relevant Radio online, join others through FaceTime/Zoom/Google Hangouts and such to pray together. As in Matthew 18:20 Jesus says “where two or more are gathered in my name, therefore I am in the midst of them.”
If you were or were not planning on attending Mass tomorrow, I would err on the side of caution and respect Mayor Adler’s instructions of not gathering. If you want to have brunch in your home and meditate on the Gospel and readings, or spend some time in nature, wherever you find God during these next few weeks I ask that you pray for those highly affected by coronavirus and pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ.
I will be praying for all of you and your families and communicating as we get updates. I am sure after Spring Break more limits will be placed and we will tackle them with faith when we get there.
God Bless,
Rachel Vaughn
