Sharing an email from Headquarters:
The emerging needs in our community & how we are responding to COVID-19!
We need your help now!
Dear Volunteers,
COVID-19 response is rapidly evolving, and we are closely monitoring the situation at the city, state and federal level.
Be assured that we are taking the precautions recommended by the Center for Disease Control and Feeding America throughout all of our food handling and volunteer operations. In addition, we are working closely with Philadelphia city officials and other hunger relief nonprofits like Philabundance to increase distributions for our food-insecure neighbors in this time of need.
While this unfortunate situation continues to evolve, we are focused on maintaining our customer base with shelf-stable foods, snack-bags and small shelf stable meal kits individually boxed for our seniors and the children who are home from school.
Today, we need volunteers & financial contributions.
- Volunteers to help us pick pack and ship our Caring for Friends individual and family—"We are Here to Help”—kits and additional funds to allow us to grow our shelf-stable inventory (i.e. peanut butter, pasta, canned vegetables etc.). All of this work will be done right here in our offices and then distributed thru our more than 120 active churches and relationships built over the last 45 years. So, if you are symptom-free we could use your help. If you are staying local, please consider a food drive and/or making snacking bags for us.
- If you can’t volunteer, please consider contributing, which you can also do right on our website.
- Please share this email with other volunteers in your community and let them know we need their emails to keep everyone up-to-date on what is happening. They can sign up for our newsletter and that puts them in our system for future COVID-19 related information as well.
Regardless, thank you for your continued interest and support especially in these times as we try and meet the needs of our seniors and food insure families and children in our area.
Thank you for all you do to make our community a better place!
