March 24, 2020 Update
Greetings to everyone,
I want to begin by thanking all of you for your witness to me as you joined me for holy mass this weekend thru Facebook. It is another example of being a part of the Church, the living body of Christ. Yesterday’s reading from Isaiah offers words of hope, “Thus says the LORD: Lo, I am about to create new heavens and a new earth; the things of the past shall not be remembered or come to mind.” We can take comfort in remembering that Christ is the Lord of history.
I prayed for you as I offered the mass in my chapel last night. I hope that we can use this time to continue to grow closer to the Lord through prayer, study, and acts of charity. This is not the Lent we have chosen, but it is the one that we must accept with peace and trust. To that end, I want to share a few things I am planning for this week:
The church will be open for private prayer from 10am to 7pm everyday.
Wednesday, March 25th, is the Feast of the Annunciation of the Lord. This is a special feast for our church in particular as we remember the “yes” that our Blessed Mother Mary gave to the message of the angel. I will live stream two masses on that day to Facebook. Mass in English will be at 9am and mass in Spanish will be at 5pm. Also, Pope Francis has asked us to pray an “Our Father” at 12 noon for an end to the pandemic. I encourage you to pray the rosary as a family on this day as well.
On Thursday, March 26th, I will visit the Sequoyah neighborhood at 5:30pm to bless people with the Blessed Sacrament. People can come out into the front yard and receive a blessing while keeping a 6 foot distance from others.
Friday, March 27th, I will offer “drive thru” confessions in the back parking lot of the church 10-11am and from 5-7pm if the weather permits (if it is raining, it will be in the parish hall). Only one person can be in the car, otherwise you can park and sit in a chair 6 feet away from me for confession.
Saturday, March 28th, I will live stream the mass in Spanish for the 5th Sunday of Lent at 6pm.
Sunday, March 29th, I will live stream the mass in English for the 5th Sunday of Lent at 10am.
I will keep you updated to any changes in this schedule. Please feel free to contact the office if you need me.
May God Bless You!
Fr. Rick
Padre Rick
