“Truly sickness is a great God-given grace. It makes us discover who we are.”
Saint Paul of the Cross
Greetings to everyone,
I want you to know that I have been praying for you every day in my masses. As the situation becomes more difficult, I know that the temptation to fear and discouragement grows. I take comfort in the saying, “Suffering can make you bitter or it can make you better.” I believe that this is an opportunity for all of us to allow the Holy Spirit to make us better. Lent is a time of conversion, but this often happens in the difficulty of the desert. God has not abandoned us and He only permits evil and suffering so that He can bring about a greater good.
I had a beautiful experience yesterday bringing the Blessed Sacrament to the Sequoyah neighborhood. It was so inspiring to see the people praying outside of their houses waiting for Jesus to pass by them as we processed up and down the streets. I kept thinking of how Jesus walked among the people and how greatly he loved them. Of course, to see the faith of the children was a very special blessing! I hope to visit other neighborhoods in the near future. You don’t have to have a Eucharistic procession to meet Jesus, however. Invite the Lord into your home again in your personal prayer.
Here is the schedule for the next couple of days:
The Church will be open for private prayer every day from 10 am to 7pm.
Friday, March 27: I will have “drive-up confessions” in the back parking lot of the church from 10am-11am and 5pm-7pm.
Saturday, March 28: I will live stream the 5th Sunday of Lent mass in Spanish from my chapel.
Sunday, March 29: I will live stream the 5th Sunday of Lent mass in English from my chapel.
I am still waiting on official word about Holy Week and will let you know as soon as I know something. Please pray for Bishop Steven Raica who will be installed as our new bishop on June 23, 2020.
May God Bless You!

Padre Rick
