I hope this finds you all healthy and staying positive. It certainly has been a challenging time for all of us.
I am sure some of you are concerned about your child learning everything needed this year to be ready for next year. I am here to tell you to relax and breathe! (I have had to tell myself and the teachers that as well. ) There is nothing more important to us than your child's success, but sometimes there is more than ABC's to consider. Just today I sent the following as part of an email to the teachers and wanted to share it with you in the hopes that it alleviates some worry you might be experiencing.
I continue praying for your safety and well-being daily.
From my email to teachers...
Side note from me - please don't get so bogged down in trying to cram as much in the three days of eLearning as possible. We all know what we will be getting next year. The student's mental/emotional health is much more important to me at this point than their grade in a class. Don't be afraid to let them have some fun along the way with content related activities. This is why I said, not everything you assign needs to be graded. They are missing their friends and you as well as adjusting to having parents at home, or parents they can't hug because they are front line workers, being with their siblings 24 hours a day, not attending Mass at church etc. Teaching the standards is important for sure; we are educators, but helping a child through an emotional and perhaps traumatic time will serve us all better in the long run. Just my thoughts 😀
Peace and Blessings,
Mrs Kirschner
