Feeling Ignored?
Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother... When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home. (Jn 19:25-27)
Have you ever felt like you could use some help approaching God during this difficult time? As children naturally run to their mothers during time of crisis, we are, during this tough time, called to seek help from our spiritual Mother Mary. The Church said, "This motherhood of Mary in the order of grace continues uninterruptedly from the consent which she loyally gave at the Annunciation and which she sustained without wavering beneath the cross, until the eternal fulfillment of all the elect. Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this saving office but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation. . . . Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix." (CCC, No. 969)These titles were given to Our Blessed Mother for a reason. They are not just for show or making her look so important. These are actually who She is as our spiritual Mother. Her mission is to bring every man, woman, and child, include their sufferings, to Her Son Jesus. Do you have a particular problem that you feel you can’t share with Jesus? You might think that He is too busy now since the whole world is praying. The truth is He’s never too busy to hear a sincere request from His Mother. If you think Jesus is ignoring you now, come to His Mother instead. Trust me, it happened at Cana! Let us run to Mary, and, as her little children, cast ourselves into her arms with a perfect confidence. (Saint Francis de Sales) AS WE PRAY: O Mary, you always shine on our path as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who at the cross took part in Jesus' pain, keeping your faith firm. You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need, and we are sure you will provide so that, as in Cana of Galilee, we may return to joy and to feasting after this time of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who has taken upon himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows to lead us, through the cross, to the joy of the resurrection. Amen. Under your protection, we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God. Do not disdain the entreaties of we who are in trial, but deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin. (Pope Francis’ Prayer during time of Pandemic)
Hail Mary full of grace...
May the soul of all the faithful departed, especially St. Clare parishioners: Tim Westby, Eugene Hult, KathLeen Sweeney, and all those who died because of the Coronavirus, through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.
Please stay put, stay healthy, and stay connected with Christ through Mary,
Fr. Vincent-Vuong Nguyen
