Good morning! As you have most likely seen, our school closure has been extended to April 30th. I'll be honest, while I knew it was coming, it was a hard pill for me to swallow! The reality is that it is what's best so we must do it. The other reality is that we are all trying to process all of the changes. Allow yourself and your children time and grace to do just that. The new normal is different and sometimes hard. However, we are resilient and we will come out of this with a new found appreciation of friends, space and time. Until then, let's forage on!
A couple of notes: NO SPRING CONCERT
*The pick up table has been moved to right
inside the door under the awning on the east
side of the church. When you pick up your new
packets, please leave the work you have done
and I will collect it and give feedback on it.
*Due to the extended closure, we will be
focusing on math, reading and faith curriculum. *I am changing my hours of availability. I will be
available for during the hours of
10:00 to 11:30 AM and 4:00 to 5:30 PM.
These are hours that you can get a hold of me
with questions or concerns or just to chat.
You can reach me by phone, email or FB. I am
not available for face to face meetings.
We have been given the direction to pick a couple of formats that work for us and our class. So far we have used paper packets, Zoom, Facebook & Facebook live, Moby Max and See Saw. I think those have been working well so we will continue with those. If you need help with any of those formats, please let me know. I will do whatever I can to help.
Here's an update on each of the formats:
FACEBOOK GROUP: This is a closed group. For confidentiality reasons, this is for parents and grandparents and some staff. I have gone through and updated the group. There are questions that need to be answered to enter into the group. If those questions are not answered and I am not aware of who that person is, I will not approve their membership. Please respect everyone's privacy.
Don't forget to check out the St. James Physical Education, St. James Music with Miss Elisabeth and LunchladyLand@St. James pages. Yes, there is a new page I will be inviting you too! Mrs. McFarland is wanting to connect with students and families and share her love of all things lunch ladyish! Check it out!!!
ZOOM: I am going to schedule a zoom meeting once a week. I will continue to do it late afternoon or early evening. You will get a flocknote with the information and also it will be on Facebook. If you need this texted, please let me know.
SEE SAW: There have been some kiddos that have been able to get on and do the work on there. Thank you! You are doing great work! If you have not been able to get on, please make sure you have the student version. You will also need a code. I can give you that code but it is only good for an hour so please contact me when you are ready for it! I will get it for you!
MOBY MAX: We use Moby Max in school to help with reading and math concepts. The kids can work independently in the areas of math, foundational reading, alphabet letters and alphabet sounds. I have not ventured into the world of social studies or science for kindergarten.
Ok, I feel like I've given you a lot of information again...take time to digest it. I am going to work on lesson plans for this week's pick up. I'm thinking of doing some fun theme days to spice things up a bit! Of course, PJ day will be one of those! We HAVE to have PJ day!
