Dear Brothers and Sisters,
In our Gospel for this second Sunday of Advent, we encounter the figure of John the Baptist. John the Baptist was the Lord’s forerunner, the one who was sent to be the one crying out in the wilderness. The scriptures tell us that John was sent by God to be a witness… a witness to the light. He witnessed about the light of the world - Christ himself. His message was clear as he cried out, “Prepare the way of the Lord.” This was his message to the Jewish people - to prepare for the coming messiah, Jesus Christ. John would say of Jesus, “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.” The words of John the Baptist speak also to us in this season. We are called to prepare a place for Jesus Christ in our lives and in our hearts.
This weekend we are honored to have Archbishop Hebda visit us. I am very grateful that he is here. Let’s give him a rousing welcome and show our appreciation for his ministry.
God bless,
Fr. Tony
