Dear Parishioners:
Be assured that I pray for you every day.
Please let me know of any hardships you are experiencing or any special prayer requests you have.
As of this writing, I have not received any information from the diocese about reopening churches, or about resuming celebrations for First Holy Communion or Confirmation. As far as Davidson County is concerned, to the best of my knowledge we have not even started Phase 1 of Mayor Cooper’s reopening plan for Nashville. Phase 2 allows gatherings of 50 people or less. Phase 3 allows 100 people or less. Phase 4 permits gatherings greater than 100 people. I realize this is a confusing time because other counties in Tennessee are starting to open up on May 1, following Governor Lee’s plan. I will keep you posted when I have more information about restarting public masses.
Nationwide Consecration to Our Blessed Mother
Tomorrow, May 1, there is a
nationwide consecration to the Blessed Mother at 2 pm (CST). Join Archbishop Jose Gomez,
president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and archbishop of Los Angeles, and our US bishops in renewing the consecration of our country to Mary. This moment of unified prayer will give our Church the occasion to pray for Our Lady’s continued protection of the vulnerable, healing of the sick, and wisdom for those who work to cure COVID-19.
Pray the Rosary throughout the Month of May
Pope Francis encourages Catholics to pray the Rosary at home during the month of May for an end to the pandemic. He asks us to add two prayers to Our Lady during this pandemic, which are found at the end of this note.
Thank you
Many thanks to all of you who have been able to give online or mail in checks to keep our parish going during these uncertain times. We are all very grateful for your generosity. I understand that many people have lost work and cannot help at this time. However, if you are able, please consider setting up monthly
donations online here.
Confession & Private Prayer
Until public Masses are allowed, St. Mary's will be open for private prayer and confession on Saturdays from 4 - 5 pm and Sundays from 8 am - noon.
May God bless you and keep you safe,
Fr. Jayd Neely, Pastor
