Gradual Re-opening of Church. Plans for gradual reopening at St. Mary's are underway, but the church remains closed for the moment. Harford County has entered Phase 1 of re-opening and has lifted some restrictions on religious services. York County PA is subject to a Stay Home Order and Baltimore County has not lifted restrictions on religious services. We have parishioners living in all three jurisdictions. Archbishop Lori continues to restrict public Masses during Maryland's Phase 1 Re-opening. Read more in the Opening St. Mary's section below.
Online Retreat - Glimpsing God in Our Dark Nights. First session is tomorrow! Father Mike Schleupner is leading three sessions on Saturdays, May 16, 23, and 30. Register online for each session. Details below. To be sure your connection works, check in for the webinar 10 minutes before it begins.
Helping Others. On Tuesday we sent 1930 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to Our Daily Bread. This week we are collecting casseroles and face masks. Details in the Helping Others section.

Opening Up St. Mary's Parish
Stay tuned for future announcements.
It is so exciting to begin planning for the gradual re-opening of St.Mary's! It turns out that opening up takes much more preparation than an abrupt shutdown does. As you might imagine, many things are changing to keep us all safe. Top of the list is providing for additional cleaning and sanitation after every event.
The Parish Council and Ministry Leaders are meeting virtually to plan for the resumption of Sunday Mass in-person and for numerous other parish activities.
Archbishop Lori has extended his dispensation of the faithful from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass. St. Mary's will continue to make Sunday Masses available to the faithful online.

Glimpsing God in Our Dark Nights
An Online Retreat in Three Parts
Dates: Saturdays May 16, 23 and 30

All of us have experiences of darkness at one time or another. In these times of pandemic, we may feel especially challenged. The sessions of this Retreat will try to address these experiences:
Session 1: Darkness in our Lives
Session 2: Moving through the Darkness
Session 3: Glimpsing God in Darkness
Please attend as many of the sessions as you can. Register for each session separately by clicking on the buttons. It is necessary to register in advance and to register for each session. There is no charge.

Ways to Help
Our Daily Bread (ODB)
This week approximately 1930 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, 67 homemade face masks, 200 individually wrapped toothbrushes, and 200 Rosary packets were collected and delivered to ODB. 62 families participated.
For next week, we're going to do the casseroles again. The link to ODB's instructions and recipes is here.
Just choose a recipe (or more), follow the recipe as it's written, bake in a 13x9 foil pan, let it cool, double wrap it with foil, label with type of casserole and date, and freeze it.
We'll be collecting the frozen casseroles on next Tuesday morning (5/19) between 10:00-11:00 am behind the Church. Please bring your frozen casserole(s) in plastic grocery bags. We'll also collect any homemade face masks that you'd like to donate.

St. Mary's Food Pantry. The Food Pantry is open on May 16 at 10 AM. Monetary donations may be mailed to the Parish Office and labeled for the Food Pantry.

May Activities
- Join us for a Drive-by Car Parade on Sunday May 17 to wave at Father. Please arrive at the church between 11:30 and noon. Attach a sign with your family name and any message to the exterior of the passenger-side door. Follow the directions to drive around the church and greet Father from afar. Observe social-distancing norms and remain in cars at all times. Let's give Father a bit of joy without risking that he or anyone else might catch or spread the virus inadvertently.
