- I don’t remember, but did I tell you I’m missing your wonderful faces in the Church looking at me during Mass? You are continually in my heart, mind and prayers.
- Hopefully we will begin to come back to Church soon, possibly in mid-June, maybe earlier depending on the following criteria suggested by the Bishop: the number of new active cases and the increase of active cases that will be admitted to a given hospital. At this point it seems that the numbers are still going up. So, we must continue to wait patiently.
- When I do think of you, I pray for your good health, both physical and spiritual. Continue to maintain social distance for the sake of your physical health. But remember it is the opposite spiritually. During this time, we are called to seek a deeper and closer relationship with God. Grow your spirituality. Feast in prayer and reflecting on the Holy Scriptures.
- I appreciate Bishop Zurek giving us permission to live stream Mass from our parishes after the 2nd Sunday of Easter. As much as we enjoyed coming together as a Diocesan Church for part of Lent and Holy Week, I know it was time for me to connect with you. Thank God, we had the equipment to begin immediately. We have ordered some new lenses to have a closer view of the sanctuary but because of the pandemic everything is backlogged.
- Here are some of the things that have occupied my time during this shelter in place:
- Studying how I can better accompany our parishioners in forming disciples of the parents first and together with them, their children.
- Learning and exploring new ways of communicating
- Video making for catechetical and information purposes
- PowerPoint presentations recorded with voice
- Various online platforms for sharing information
- Considering other formats other than weekly bulletin.
- Sr. Rita and I are researching and planning how to move all of faith formation to a family catechesis format.
- Creating a protocol with new leadership for Hospitality/Ushering ministry.
I- n these last couple of months, I have added 4 new members to the Finance Council, 1 left and 3 continue for a time of transition but will soon complete their terms of services.
We have 4 new members of the Daycare Board and 3 active members of the Building Maintenance Committee.
- Finally, I will soon begin to seek parishioners for a new Pastoral Council that is more reflective of the demographic changes of the parishes. I will especially be seeking new members that are younger, single or married with children at home, and are willing to commit to advising me on new programming and are committed to the following:
- The multicultural and multigenerational reality of the parish.
- Catholic School Education for the campus
- Committed to being Disciple-making Disciples.
If you are interested in being a part of this new Council, please call the office and give your contact information.
- And … in my spare time I bike an average of 50 miles weekly, learning to cook and bake, and watching my diet since I’m trying to keep my sugar levels under control.
My most current project has been working on beautifying the garden between the Church, Convent and Rectory. It is indeed a quite and prayerful space for me.
During this time of the pandemic, indeed a dark time I have managed to dedicate time to renew my commitment to serving in a more effective way, developing new skills and healthy habits, and I have especially grown in my love and appreciation for St Joseph’s parish.
- You continue to surprise my in your generosity to the parish. Thank you for your ongoing support. Keep safe and healthy. Know you continue to be in my prayers.
