Father's Car Parade - Great Success. The Car Parade for Kunkel was a joyous parish event. We counted 78 cars greeting Father. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces. A selection of the photos Joanne McConnell took are found throughout the newsletter. A thank you from Father Kunkel is included in this week's bulletin.
Gradual Re-opening of Church. Plans for gradual reopening at St. Mary's are underway, but the church remains closed for the moment. Read more in the Opening St. Mary's section below.
Online Retreat - Glimpsing God in Our Dark Nights. Second session is tomorrow! Father Mike Schleupner is leading the second of three sessions on Saturdays, May 23, and 30. Helping Others. On Tuesday we sent 74 casseroles, 23 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, 62 homemade face masks, and 2 large jars of peanut butter to Our Daily Bread. This week we are collecting PBJ sandwiches and face masks. Details in the Helping Others section.

Glimpsing God in Our Dark Nights
Dates: Saturdays, May 23 and 30

All of us have experiences of darkness at one time or another. In these times of pandemic, we may feel especially challenged. The remaining sessions of this retreat try to address these experiences.
Please attend as many of the sessions as you can. Register for each session separately by clicking on the buttons. It is necessary to register in advance and to register for each session. There is no charge.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. You have the best experience using a computer, however, you can also participate using a smart phone. Be sure to use the link in the email to check that your computer is ready to participate.

Ways to Help
Our Daily Bread (ODB)
On Tuesday, May 19, 74 casseroles, 23 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, 62 homemade face masks, and 2 large jars of peanut butter were collected and delivered to ODB. 44 families participated.
For next week, we're going to do peanut butter and jelly sandwiches again. Put the sandwiches into individual sealable bags and to label them PB+J and date them. Please re-use your bread bags, shake out crumbs, place all your sealed, labeled sandwiches back in the bread bag, twist tie shut. Hopefully, this will help us to be more space efficient in packing the sandwiches into our vehicles!
If you'd like to join in this effort, please bring your sandwiches up to St. Mary's on Tuesday (5/26) between 10:00-11:00am. Just pull around behind the church. We'll be waiting near the Carry-out area. You won't even need to get out of your vehicle. We'll also collect any homemade face masks that you'd like to donate.

Funerals
Funeral Masses and graveside services are permitted with attendance limited to a total of ten people, including clergy. Please check with the parish office for further guidance.

Canceled Events and Activities
The church building is still closed to the public. All public events and most parish activities are canceled or postponed.
Sacraments
- Confirmations and First Communions will be rescheduled at a later date.
- The Sacrament of the Sick for in-patients is available through the hospital chaplains only.
- Fr. Kunkel is not administering the Sacrament of the Sick except in the case of imminent death.
