Parish Update -- May 19, 2020
Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph and Corpus Christi:
There are a few things I'd like to share with you about the upcoming weeks:
Back to Mass -- Bishop Kopacz announced last week that the Diocese of Jackson plans to resume public Masses on Pentecost Weekend. At the moment, we're not 100% on what that would look like, but it's a starting point. Mass times and further details will be shared later. We will have to be very conscious of safety and the recommended directives that have been and will be provided. We will also be attentive to our local ordinances as well. Here is the Bishop's message:

Live Stream/YouTube -- For the foreseeable future, the Bishop has continued to offer the dispensation from Sunday Mass. For those who would like to stay at home, we now have a YouTube Channel where we will livestream our Sunday Masses and we will continue to stream from Facebook Live. Here is our link:

Blood Drive -- The Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a blood drive. Please get in contact with Mark Lilly if you'd like to donate blood. His email address is marknkaren1@yahoo.com.
Reconciliation -- We will resume the sacrament of Reconciliation at the scheduled times for the foreseeable future. Please refer to the guidelines from last week. I'll be behind the Parish Hall. Sunday at 4:30-5:30 PM, Tuesday 4:30-5:30 PM and Thursday 5-5:30 PM. Please wear a mask and stay in your car until others are finished.
Adoration -- Adoration will resume next Tuesday. Adoration will be in the main part of the Church. We're following the directives from the diocese: "Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament may occur in the church with 10 or less present at one time. Masks and social distancing are required. Ushers must be present to direct seating and wipe pews and surfaces."
RCIA -- Over the last month or so, we have been slowly bringing our RCIA Candidates and Catechumens into the Church during daily Masses one or two at a time. Thanks to Dave Monts and his team for helping coordinate these opportunities.
First Communion -- The Diocese of Jackson has now asked us to wait until August 1 for our celebration of First Holy Communion.
Seminarian Welcome -- This Summer we will have Carlisle Beggarly with us. A seminarian of the Diocese of Jackson. Carlisle attends Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, Louisiana. He'll be going into his Second Year of Theology next academic year (out of four years). Carlisle will be with us from June 1 until July 31. Hopefully, the Covid19 restrictions will not hinder us so much that you won't be able to meet him. Many of you might know Carlisle already. He is a native Mississippian and his home is in West Point, Mississippi.
Peace,
Fr. Jason
