Brothers and Sisters,
Yesterday we received news that Mayor Hogsett was relaxing restrictions on houses of worship that will allow us to resume the celebration of Sunday Masses. To be fully transparent I want to acknowledge that we are allowed to resume public Masses this weekend. However, because we have been working towards the weekend of June 6th and 7th for some time I do not feel we are quite where we need to be to open this weekend. I know that may come as a disappointment but I want us to be well prepared to gather together in a way that both gives glory to God and provides a safe atmosphere in which to worship.
We have resumed our normal schedule of daily Masses, confessions, and adoration and I am pleased to report that is going well. The parish office has also resumed its normal operating hours. This coming Monday, June 1st we will reopen our campus to meetings and gatherings. Those attending meetings and gatherings on Saint Simon’s campus should wear a mask and observe social distancing.
More information will be following this coming week about what to expect when you return to Sunday Mass. What you can do to help us right now is take a brief survey below letting us know if you are planning on attending Mass the weekend of June 6th and 7th, which Mass you plan on attending, and how many folks will be with you. We are trying to get an idea of what to expect.
Thank you so much for your continued prayers and I am looking forward to resuming our normal Sunday Mass schedule!
God Bless,
Father Doug
